  1. I read your “Coming out of the Matrix” article. You might want to correct it: The blue pill was the sleeper pill, the red pill wakes people up.

  2. Prophet James — I prefer to know to whom I’m speaking and normally wouldn’t reply otherwise. Just easier to accuse under a guise than take exchange opening. That said, just a few notes to what you said. I don’t think Christians are hanging their hats on any one person either than Jesus. I reported the rally as I saw it. I went as press and wanted to do an objective report. Not everyone there were Christians, trust me. I know alot of them. But to address your concern over Reed being an option over others–As Christians we know of reconciliation, forgiveness, and renewal. If any of that pertains here, let it be. Also, Ralph Reed has not been part of the Christian Coalition for a long time so it’s dwindling numbers are not his doing. He has come back facing those who will scrutinize him (like you and I) for what he does now, remembering what he has done, and judging for themselves (some by prayer) whether they should follow him. He did say one thing that is so true. God equips those he calls and sometimes it’s the most unlikely person. It’s the one who says, “Yes, Lord-here am I!” Pride wants to hang on to the past even if someone has truly changed. The question here is a personal one for everyone. A genuinely changed life is a powerful witness. Time reveals sincereity and character. For those who feel wronged, it can be difficult to trust again. But then that’s up to each individual and God. Thank you for your perspective.

  3. Regarding your op-ed entitled “Can Ralph Reed do it again?” on RenewAmerica. While Ralph Reed was important to the growth of the Christian Coalition, Pat Robertson was equally important. But now both Reed and Robertson have thrown their lot in with the Communists in China. Both endorse the free-trade with China that is used to build up China’s military while throwing Americans out of work. As a result, Christian Coalition is barely surviving and Reed and Robertson are seen as having serious character flaws by the same average Americans who once supported them.

If the Republican Party is looking for salvation through Ralph Reed, they’re really getting desperate. Better to look to Duncan Hunter, Sarah Palin or even Michelle Bachman for an effective movement leader.

  4. Great article Stella and nice website! As a longtime fan of the ’73 Dillinger fan, I’d long felt this way towards the man as depicted by Warren Oates. Extraordinary people rise up to face challenges head-on while the majority have become conditioned to accept the status quo.

We are definitely seeing a repeat of history as more and more people are faced with the challenges of today’s economy and the ill-effects of the government’s efforts to somehow fix it (or is it another power grab, forcing the populace to become even more dependent?). Either way, we are seeing that bank robberies and other crimes, possibly of necessity, are on the rise. So, too, will mob action as more and more refuse to submit to the will of an ever-hungry federal government and its cronies in office and Wall Street.

  5. Public Enemy…or Public Hero?
    By David Blane
    Atlanta, Ga 7/10/2009

In Michael Mann’s latest film adaptation of outlaw story Public Enemies, the Dillinger gangs’ historical and influential robbery sprees across America seem to be somewhat justified. Mann’s depiction of public enemy number one John Dillinger is less of a psychopath and more of an entrepreneur or risk taker. This film reminds us to rethink our current situation in terms of a similar time in history. There is a scene in which Edgar Hoover (1st director of the FBI) is trying to convince the bureau to let him take the investigation nation wide. Objections like state’s rights and too much federal power were brought up. If this is allowed to happen, where does the federal jurisdiction end?

John Dillinger was a hero of the people who had become untrusting of banks and government because of the great depression. As usual, when the people become wary of government the response is propaganda and fear mongering. Often times (much like today. Clips below) people saw banks and government as equal perpetrators with the anomaly that fit the average Americans’ sympathies, and yet, one whom we lack today: a John Dillinger. A man who simply extorted the government and banks’ inadequacies because he saw opportunity and excitement. Some see John Dillinger as the first perverse hero of Hollywood proportions. But, it is worth taking the time to think, what if America needs a rule breaker? At this point, who should the American people be looking too? Does inventing more laws, invading more privacy, and sacrificing more liberty solve the problem? Of course not. With bills being passed to encourage non-ending wars, irreconcilable debts, and sacrifices of freedom, at what point does a ‘public enemy’ like John Dillinger have to prove to us the importance of fighting against a growing government before it becomes a crime?! “Now nobody get nervous, you ain’t got nothing to fear. You’re being robbed by the John Dillinger Gang, that’s the best there is!” – John Dillinger in the movie Dillinger, 1973.

  7. Good Day! And it is a great time to be alive! You may think Stella has had too much java this morning, but that’s not the point::)) I’ve found that right attitude sets how the world is perceived and dictates our response likewise–with either peaceful assurance of integrity or with anxiety of what we cannot control. That said, Welcome! And thank you for your substantive comments. My commitment is to give honest, respectful and hopefully insightful opinions in response. God Bless.
